30 Individuals Transition from Temporary Assistance to Permanent Employment in September
The Cattaraugus County Department of Social Services is pleased to announce the placement of 30 individuals receiving cash assistance into permanent employment positions in the month of September.
The Employment Unit at the Cattaraugus County Department of Social Services works with agency staff and community partners to assist in the transition of able bodied working adults receiving public assistance in moving toward self-sufficiency by assisting with job search, resume building and interviewing skills.
Of the 30 individuals who found employment in September, 12 found full time jobs and 18 secured part time work in fields ranging from retail to hospitality to manufacturing with employers throughout the southern tier.
According to Social Services Commissioner Dan Piccioli, "This takes people receiving cash assistance and gives them the satisfaction of providing for themselves and their families. For many, it is an important first step." Piccioli added, "This is a huge part of our mission. Moving people to the ranks of the employed strengthens families and communities."
